Afropessimism In Black Studies: Wilderson’s Influence
Frank B. Wilderson’s groundbreaking work on Afropessimism has significantly influenced contemporary Black studies scholars. Hortense Spillers’s concept of “flesh,” Kara Keeling’s research on Black queer subjectivity, and Saidiya Hartman’s exploration of marginalized Black women’s history all resonate with Wilderson’s ideas. Fred Moten, Sylvia Wynter, Sylvia Federici, and Denise Ferreira da Silva have also engaged with and expanded upon Wilderson’s theories of Black radicalism and ontology.
